About the book+CD De orgel- en klavecimbelwerken II (922409-NL)
The Netherlands' greatest composer, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, seems to rely mainly on commemorative years. For example, the 450th year of birth (2012) was the reason for the Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam to release all vocal works - including four books with Psalms and the Cantiones Sacrae - on CD. The then head of state Queen Beatrix received them. Fortunately, the Gesualdo Consort does not stop at this anniversary year. In fact, Harry van der Kamp and his colleagues are already trying to build a bridge to the 400th year of death in 2021. The Glossa label then also took care of the instrumental part of Sweelinck's music. The second and last part of the instrumental work has again been beautifully designed as a book, with over a hundred pages of Dutch-language explanations on ao the organ in Sweelinck's time, Sweelinck's organ travels, the organs of the Oude Kerk and an extensive discussion of the late Gustav Leonhardt as a Sweelinck pioneer. The NCRV managed to unearth two historical recordings with Leonhardt, which can be heard here on CD 3. We also hear contributions on organ and harpsichord by Reitze Smits, Pieter van Dijk, Harald Vogel, Bernard Winsemius and Pieter-Jan Belder.

About the box The Complete Keyboard Works (CGD 922410)
The large-scale Het Sweelinck Monument project, with Harry van der Kamp as its driving force, and with individual issues on Glossa over the last 6 years in book-CD format for the Netherlands and as multiple-CD sets for the international market, embraces the complete vocal and instrumental music output of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck.
The 6-CD set now being issued concludes this collection (which serves as a remarkable memorial to this influential composer), presenting in one box the complete works for keyboard instruments by the Dutch composer. Historical organs, virginals and harpsichords are played here by the most eminent specialists, including Pieter Dirksen, Pieter-Jan Belder, Bob van Asperen and the late Gustav Leonhardt. This set also includes four-part
settings of choral melodies used by Sweelinck.
